An Analytical Approach to Strategic Technology Selection

Technology selection is a decision making area of major concern to today’s manager. Technologies can create or destroy profits and have the ability to create new industries and transform or destroy existing ones. The dynamics of global business have changed the shape of organisational strategies. Now the focus is on a network rather than a single unit. This change has also affected the technology selection process. This paper presents a technology selection framework, considering changes in the global business environment. The major contribution of this research is a decision making framework for industrial managers to select a manufacturing technology that satisfies their supply chain objectives.
